Justin Bieber performed in Orlando on Thursday (30 June) and acknowledged the horrific shootings in the city in recent weeks.
The singer paid moving tribute to the 49 people who lost their lives in at Pulse nightclub during the worst mass shooting in US history.
Bieber, 22, sang the title track from his 2015 album Purpose as the names of the 49 victims were shown on a giant screen at Amway Center.
Also included in the names was that of Christina Grimmie, a finalist on NBC’s The Voice who was shot to death after a performance the day before the 12 June massacre at Pulse.
‘You’ve been through a lot here,’ Bieber told the crowd.
‘You guys have been in my heart. I’ve just been thinking of the families and really feeling for them. It’s hard to really be happy in a time like this, so it means a lot to see you guys out here, smiling.’
After the show, Bieber also posted a tweet which stated: ‘Thank you for tonight. Don’t ever be afraid to be yourself.’ #OrlandoStrong”
