Jennifer Lopez and Lin-Manuel Miranda team up for song to raise money for Orlando victims

Jennifer Lopez and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda have teamed up to create a song to raise money for the victims of the Orlando shooting.

The song, Love Make The World Go Round, will benefit Somos Orlando – a charity for Latinos who ‘will address the long-term needs for mental health services that are culturally competent and bilingual’ for victims and families of shooting that killed 49 people and injured 53.

‘Proyecto will enable care to be delivered to those affected directly in the communities in which they live. Beyond emergency assistance, they will be provided with case management, crisis intervention, and mental health services, among other needs.’

As the charity notes, the LGBTI nightclub Pulse was holding a Latin night. The vast majority of the victims were from the Latinx community.

Both Miranda and Lopez have paid tribute to the Orlando victims in their own way.

Writing on Instagram, Lopez said:

Miranda, accepting his one of many Tony awards, wrote a sonnet dedicated to the victims:

My wife’s the reason anything gets done
She nudges me towards promise by degrees
She is a perfect symphony of one,
Our son is her most beautiful reprise
We chase the melodies that seem to find us
Until they’re finished songs and start to play
When senseless acts of tragedy remind us
That nothing here is promised, not one day
This show is proof that history remembers
We live through times when hate and fear seem stronger
We rise and fall and light from dying embers
Remembrances that hope and love lasts long
And love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love
Cannot be killed or swept aside,
I sing Vanessa’s symphony, Eliza tells her story
Now fill the world with music love and pride
