North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory is described as a ‘moronic little bigot of a tarheel governor’ in one of the Democratic National Committee emails obtained by Wikileaks.
North Carolina is mentioned more than 500 times in the leaked 19,000 emails with McCrory and HB2 appearing in a combined 147 emails, according to WSOCTV.
HB2 stands for House Bill 2, the controversial anti-LGBTI measure signed into law by McCrory earlier this year. The law bans transgender people from using public bathrooms corresponding with their gender identity and excludes sexual orientation and gender identity from state anti-discrimination laws
The ‘little bigot’ comment was made in an email by senior democratic official who was discussing HB2 with other DNC officials. McCrory’s campaign spokesman Ricky Diaz called the language used in the email ‘unacceptable.’
‘Our hearts just sink when we see that kind of language being used,’ he tells WSOCTV. ‘It’s unacceptable. You know, it’s a shame that Democrats are being politically correct to the public and to the media, but then, when they’re behind closed doors, they’re calling Governor McCrory names.’
The leaked 19,000 emails have led to the resignation of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz this week.
They threatened to cause major disruption at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia because of emails that showed favoritism towards the party’s presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over her former rival Senator Bernie Sanders.
