7 must-sees at this weekend’s Brighton Pride, from Carly Rae Jepsen to Ruby Rose

Carly Rae Jepsen released her third album Emotion last year to critical acclaim

The mighty Brighton Pride returns the weekend – with US superstar Carly Rae Jepsen as headliner.

Taking place from Friday 5 until Sunday 7 August, the massive festival in England’s most LGBTI-friendly city boasts an amazing line up of top talent.

Here, we pick the seven stars we’re most excited to see at this year’s event, which looks set to bask in warm temperatures in the early 20s…

1 Carly Rae Jepsen

Cute Canadian Carly Rae has amassed 1 billion YouTube views and number ones in over 47 countries since the release of 2011 single Call Me Maybe. Catch Carly on the Main Stage at Preston Park on the Saturday.

She’ll also be doing meet and greets with fans during the festival; for more information, click here.

2 Pam Ann

The Aussie comedy veteran, also known as Caroline Reid, will be in town for a special Pride warm-up show on Friday 5 August, before hosting the festivities on the Main Stage the next day. Prepare for take off and plenty of side-splitting gags from the world’s shadiest air hostess…

3 Fleur East

The 2014 X Factor runner-up has sold a staggering 600,000 copies of her mammoth debut single Sax, while album Love, Sax and Flashbacks has been certified Gold since its release last year. The second single to be lifted from the LP was More and More [listen below] back in February. Fleur will take to the Main Stage on Saturday.

4 Ruby Rose

The Orange Is the New Black star is back on DJ duties for the second year at Brighton Pride. You can catch the gorgeous model’s exclusive UK pride appearance at the The Official Pride Girls Closing Party on Sunday at seafront nightclub Shooshh. Doors open at 10pm.

5 Frankmusik

It’s hard to believe it’s nine years since the super cute pop star released his first single, Three Little Words. Last year’s shining electro-pop moment I Remember [below] proves he’s still got the goods. Oh, and by the way, he’s looking hotter than ever. He’ll perform on the Main Stage on the Saturday.

6 Jordan Gray

As a standout contestants on this year’s series of The Voice, Jordan Gray is now surely one of the country’s most prominent trans musicians – and we can attest that she’s an absolutely lovely person, too. She’ll be bringing her off-the-wall musical stylings to the Main Stage on the Saturday.

7 Sister Sledge

They’ve sold over 15 million records worldwide and released some of the most iconic disco hits of all time, from He’s the Greatest Dancer to We Are Family. But our favourite Sister song is definitely the timeless and uplifting Lost In Music. They’ll join Carly, Pam Ann, Frankmusik and Jordan Gray on the Main Stage on Saturday.
