Plans announced to launch blow-job café in London

Bradley Charvet

An entrepreneur named Bradley Charvet has prompted social media uproar by announcing plans for a so-called ‘fellatio café’ in Paddington, London.

The Evening Standard reports Mr Charvet as saying he is basing his business idea on similar cafés that exist in Thailand, where female escorts administer oral sex to men.

Charvet plans to open a café in his home city of Geneva before the end of the year.

He says he is working in conjunction with a UK-based social network brand, BumPix – aimed at escorts and their clients – to extend the idea to London, and that premises in Praed Street, Paddington, central London, have already been scouted.

Despite the fact that running a brothel or pimping is against the law in the UK, Charvet clearly seems to think BumPix has found a loophole that would allow the café to operate.

‘We are happy this will be a legal business in the UK, which is nice because it will be organised and controlled.

‘We need to fix some details to avoid trouble. It’s on the way.

‘The project is in progress. At the moment, our lawyer is doing the job to get the right stuff done.’

He said that a coffee would start at £50: ‘Then, if the fellatio is long, over 15 minutes, extras are going to be added – £10 per 15 minutes.’

In Switzerland, it is not illegal to run a brothel. However, Westminster City Council has indicated that such a business in London would not be able to get a licence.

‘I would say no one is forced to work in this coffee shop. It’s a normal job’

Customers of the proposed café will be able to choose escorts from a selection presented to them on an iPad when they arrive at the café.

Charvet shrugged off suggestions the concept was unethical in any way, telling the Standard: ‘I would say no one is forced to work in this coffee shop. It’s a normal job.

‘You do your job, eight hours per day if they decide to work in full time.

‘Good conditions will be provided for their security and the health. I am married, all the guys around area also and we respect the ladies.’

Charvet is co-owner of what he describes as an ‘escort directory’, Face Girl, in Switzerland. He announced his Geneva café last month and says that he now has a provisional opening date of 5 December for that venue.

‘We’re thinking about offering gay services as well’

In a phone call to GSN, Charvet confirmed that he will be co-owning the Geneva venue, but sought to distance himself from directly operating the London venue.

‘It will be run by BumPix, not by me. But I am doing their marketing and communications.’

He said he was ‘slightly upset’ by the Standard news story and the fact that it had presented him as the man behind the potential London venue. He said the CEO of BumPix is Ethan Walmer and forwarded our questions to Mr Walmer.

Asked if he was really confident that the London café might open, an email purportedly from Mr Walmer replied: ‘We know that the legislation about this is very complicated, but our lawyer is doing his best to make it possible.’

He declined to provide us with the trading name or registered address of the company that owns BumPix ‘for security reasons’.

Asked by GSN if the cafés would offer any services to gay men or women, Charvet said: ‘We know that the gay community is important, that’s why we’re thinking about offering gay services as well.’

He said that this initially might include gay men, but gay women also, ‘if we’ve got a lot of request about this service, we’ll definitely think about it.’
